SFMOMA MUSEUMSTORE ANNOUNCES NEW SERIES OF PRODUCTS DESIGNED BY JASON MUNN FOR ARTIST SERIES

Jason Munn T-Shirt: Heather Gray; $28

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) MuseumStore is pleased to feature a special product series designed by local artist Jason Munn. The SFMOMA Artists' Series works with artists and designers represented in the museum's collection to create limited-edition products that bring art and design into everyday objects.

For the MuseumStore, Munn designed a special line of products, including four limited-edition posters, T-shirts, mugs, pocket-sized sketchbooks, and tote bags. Each of the four posters represents one area of SFMOMA's collection—painting and sculpture; architecture and design; media arts; and photography.

Originally from Neenah, Wisconsin, Munn started his graphic design career through a love of independent music and design. After studying fine arts at the University of Wisconsin and earning an associate's degree in applied arts from Madison Area Technical College in Wisconsin, Munn quickly became a fixture on the local independent music scene for designing posters.

Munn eventually moved to Oakland, California, and founded his own studio in 2003. He began making posters for local venues and independent musicians, designing under the pseudonym The Small Stakes. Now, working under his own name, Munn continues to focus on posters, as well as design and illustration commissions. He is best known for his poster designs, which focus on images that are concept driven and restrained, often keeping only what is essential to the composition. Munn's award-winning work has appeared in numerous exhibitions and publications. His work was recently included in SFMOMA's exhibition How Wine Became Modern: Design + Wine 1976 to Now on a wine label for the Hobo Wine Company and his posters are in the permanent collection at SFMOMA and the Denver Art Museum.

Past SFMOMA MuseumStore Artists' Series artists include Andrew Holder, Sarah King, Rex Ray, Jack Stauffacher, and Martin Venezky. Products by Holder and King are also currently available for sale at the MuseumStore.
