SFMOMA Community Gallery The SFMOMA Community Gallery showcases works from young people in the Bay Area. In 2005, SFMOMA reinaugurated this community space with an exhibition featuring student works from partnership schools in the SFMOMA Matches program. SFMOMA Matches is a unique program that pairs teens from five Bay Area public schools with adult Museum members for gallery tours to foster Museum visitorship and a lifelong appreciation of the arts. Group Mural Project, Oakland High School Class of 2005 Photo by John Jenkins TWO SCHOOLS: Artistic Visions from the Bay Area In this exhibition, students from Thurgood Marshall High School in San Francisco and Oakland High School's Visual Arts Academy in Oakland present recent works inspired by everyday objects, natural elements, cultural celebrations and urban settings found in the Bay Area. SFMOMA Matches This multi-visit program introduces teenagers to modern and contemporary art through pairings with SFMOMA members. Teens discover an interest in art with the help of an adult enthusiast through gallery visits and Museum tours. All students receive a free Museum membership for participating in SFMOMA Matches and have the opportunity to bring their significant adults to the Museum. Learn more about the Matches program.
