Today, Mariachi music is a unique symbol of Mexican culture. Mariachi music began in the western region of Mexico that includes Jalisco Nayarit, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Michoacán, and Colima, and has spread throughout the world. What started as music played by field hands has evolved into the artform it is today incorporating Spanish, Mexican, and African influences. Join us for an evening of Mariachi performance in front of Diego Rivera’s Pan American Unity featuring local bands Mariachi Nueva Generacion, Mariachi San Francisco, and Mariachi Nueva Esperanza.
