Overview
Beginning February 02, SFMOMA presents an exhibition of photographs from the museum's collection highlighting topographic photography that maps the natural and architectural surfaces of the land. Beginning with the first land surveys, the exhibition traces the theme through 19th-century pictures of national monuments, and Walker Evans's poetic pictures of vernacular American architecture, to Robert Adams's studies of the man-altered landscape. Join exhibition curator Sutcliffe for an exploration of these works, as well as recent highlights such as Sze Tsung Leong's large-scale observations of rapid urbanization in China.
