Overview
Speakers from the rich intellectual and artistic communities of our region come together for a conversation on contemporary issues. This evening Solnit hosts Light and Paglen for a wide-ranging look at landscape, politics, and everyday life. Solnit's recent essay collection Storming the Gates of Paradise: Landscapes for Politics takes up vistas mythical and actual, impassible and sustaining, lightweight and lost. Many of Light's aerial photographs show a complex infrastructure that is frequently overlooked. Paglen's recent projects attempt to document secret military programs never intended to be seen. A book signing and reception follow the discussion.
