Là-bas

Phyllis Wattis Theater
3:00 p.m.

2006, 78 min.

In this documentary of sorts, Akerman creates a conglomerated sense of exile, voyeurism, belonging, and hope. Là-bas covers the filmmaker's time spent in a Tel Aviv apartment. Most of the scenes are shot from an apartment window, showing the neighbors going about their business and life on the street below; Akerman's narration is both contemplative and apprehensive about the outside world of Israel.

Part of Chantal Akerman.
