Overview
John G. Avildsen, 1976, 119 min., 35mm
This 1970s classic follows its title character, Rocky Balboa, a struggling small-time boxer, as he makes a go at the big time. When given a chance at a professional fight with champion Apollo Creed, this "nobody" goes against the odds with surprising results. Written by and starring Sylvester Stallone, the film features Rocky running up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art, an iconic scene that has been immortalized in a bronze statue that lives there today.
