De Palma's film weaves a macabre tapestry of horror, mystery, and suspense centered around the brutal murder of a sexually frustrated New York City housewife (Angie Dickinson) following her afternoon tryst with a stranger she picks up at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The sole witness to the murder, a prostitute, teams up with the victim's son and therapist to track down the killer. From the opening shower scene to the nearly 10-minute silent tracking shot of Dickinson's character following the man in the museum, Dressed to Kill brims with thematic and stylistic nods to Hitchcock. Rated R.
