Overview
Over the last two decades, Jones has appropriated films, videos, and photographs in an ongoing examination and subtle subversion of the relationships among images, social control, and political power. His works include Tearoom (1962/2007), a police surveillance film presented at the 2008 Whitney Biennial, and The Fall of Communism as Seen in Gay Pornography (1998), a documentary compiling scenes from videos produced in an Eastern Europe recently transformed by capitalism. Formerly involved in raiding the libraries of the adult video industry, Jones now chiefly focuses on the archives of the U.S. government. Jones will present and discuss a selection of his works.
