Simulcast availableL.A.-based Mark Bradford uses materials retrieved from the street — billboard paper, newsprint, carbon paper — to create often massively scaled collages that resemble abstract paintings. The work is both formally striking and politically and socially charged. At this evening's talk, Bradford discusses his educational intitiatives, including Open Studio, his collaborative project with SFMOMA to provide artist-designed activities for high school students.
Tickets for the artist talk are sold out, but a simulcast will be available in the Koret Visitor Education Center. Admission to the simulcast is on a first-come, first-served basis and free with museum admission.
