Mutu creates large-scale collages using ink, acrylic, and fragments of images she culls from glossy magazines. This layering technique allows for juxtapositions that explore mythic notions of beauty, femininity, and disfiguration. Mutu and exhibition curator McDowell discuss the artist's process and the site-specific installation she created for the current New Work exhibition. An SFMOMA Sessions party follows the talk.
