Between Action, Object, and Record: The Art of Richard Long
Terri Whitlock, curatorial associate, photography, SFMOMA
Phyllis Wattis Theater
11:00 a.m. - noon
Long appropriates walking as an artistic gesture - an activity that fits somewhere between performance and sculpture. His works - serving as both art and record - adhere to a simplicity of form, referring to both the natural world and the ideals of geometry. Whitlock maps the bearing of land art, photography, and conceptual art on Long's work.
Museum and program admission are free.
