Anselm Kiefer: Church and State Michael Auping, chief curator, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth Phyllis Wattis Theater 7:00 p.m. The organizing curator of Anselm Kiefer: Heaven and Earth, Auping offers a deeper reflection on the artist's long-running fascination with the relationship between heaven and earth, God and politics. In this opening lecture, Auping explores the layers of meaning embedded in Kiefer's paintings, books, and sculptures and highlights the relevance of Kiefer's themes to cultural debates today. $10 general; $8 SFMOMA members, students with ID, and seniors.
