Alvar Aalto: A Master of Scandinavian Modernism
Markku Lahti, director, Alvar Aalto Foundation and Museum

Phyllis Wattis Theater
6:00 p.m.

One of the first and most influential practitioners of Scandinavian Modernism, Alvar Aalto was known for his humanistic approach to design, whether working in the realm of architecture, furniture, or glassware. Masterpieces such as the Savoy Vase, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, and the Paimio Chair helped propel Aalto into the international spotlight and have become icons of modern design. Lahti reflects on the incredible career of this legendary Finnish designer, as well as his enduring influence on his field today.

Free with Museum admission.
