SECA: Manuel DeLanda
Manuel DeLanda, theorist, critic, and filmmaker
Phyllis Wattis Theater
5:30 p.m.
Manuel DeLanda is one of the most energizing thinkers on science, technology, and culture working today. He started out as a filmmaker and computer artist and went on to become the author of cult books such as A Thousand Years of Nonlinear History and War in the Age of Intelligent Machines. DeLanda's topic for this program is the expressivity of matter; he links art (as expression) to science (as matter) and explores the self-organizing principles of life. DeLanda comes to SFMOMA at the invitation of SECA artist Leslie Shows, who credits his work as an influence.
Free with Museum admission.
