The minimalist yet fantastical forms of Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata presented in the exhibition include approximately fifty examples of his inventive furniture pieces and whimsical objects, accompanied by blueprints and sketches that provide insight into Kuramata's sources of inspiration and design processes. The exhibition was organized by the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and toured internationally before coming to SFMOMA.
