In conjunction with SFMOMA's presentation of Gerhard Richter: Forty Years of Painting, a remarkable eight-painting suite of Richter's abstractions, Abstract Pictures (858) (1999), will be on view at the Museum. Contemporaneous with the exhibition opening, RICHTER 858, an extraordinary book of poems, essays, and music inspired by and specially commissioned for the series, will be released internationally.
