In 1978, Rauschenberg traveled to Canada to oversee the installation of the Vancouver Art Gallery exhibition Robert Rauschenberg—Works from Captiva (September 8–October 29, 1978). For this presentation the ninety-seven panels of Hiccups were installed in parallel rows rather than in a single line. Here we see Rauschenberg directing the sequencing of the panels for the fourth row.
