Our December Artcast focuses intensely on the careers of Jasper Johns and Jay DeFeo. In 1959 both artists were included in the exhibition Sixteen Americans at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Now, in 2012, their work is joined once again in two parallel exhibitions at SFMOMA, on view through February 3, 2013. In this episode we explore similarities between these artists by looking carefully at the symbols and materials each of them employed over the years.
Each SFMOMA Artcast brings you illuminating audio and video interviews with artists, curators, and visitors as they respond to the works on view and in the museum’s collection. Subscribe to podcasts here.
