Porsche Bay Area Dealers to Support Art Auction 2013

SFMOMA is delighted to recognize Porsche Bay Area Dealers as the Presenting Sponsor of Art Auction 2013. We would also like to thank supporting sponsors AT&T, Deloitte, San Francisco Magazine, and Webcor Builders for their generous support of this exciting event.

The auction, which will be held on April 24, is the last auction to be held in SFMOMA's current building. Hosted by the Modern Art Council, the museum's premier fundraising auxiliary, the Art Auction is one of the museum's largest fundraisers; the 2011 auction raised over $2 million for the museum's exhibitions and education programs. On this special night, collectors, gallery owners, art dealers, SFMOMA donors, and interested art lovers participate in both a live and silent auction, and enjoy a sumptuous buffet and cocktails in the museum's Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Atrium and The Helen and Charles Schwab Room.

Proceeds from Art Auction 2013 provide essential funds for SFMOMA's celebrated exhibitions and programs and enable us to serve more than 50,000 students, teachers, and families through innovative education programs.

SFMOMA Extends its Appreciation to The Charles Schwab Corporation, Lead Corporate Sponsor of Christian Marclay's The Clock

SFMOMA is delighted to recognize The Charles Schwab Corporation as the lead corporate sponsor of Christian Marclay's The Clock. Debuting in 2010 at London's White Cube Gallery, The Clock is a montage of thousands of moments from television and film history, edited together to create a functioning timepiece. The piece is synced to local time, creating an experience where the viewer sees the exact time in real time at any point in the day. The piece has been a sensation in the cities where it has been shown (Los Angeles, New York, and London.)

In 2011, Marclay was awarded the prestigious Gold Lion at the Venice Biennale for this work. The piece features clips from such diverse films as High Noon, starring Gary Cooper; Gone with the Wind, starring Clark Gable; Titanic, with Leonardo DiCaprio; and the Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie Eraser.

The Charles Schwab Corporation's generous gift has allowed SFMOMA to present this extraordinary work to our community, and for this the museum is most grateful. The Clock will be on view at SFMOMA from April 6, 2013 through June 2, 2013.
