Share your interest in modern art: Become an SFMOMA docent.
The SFMOMA docent training program features in-depth courses in modern and contemporary art as well as touring methods and techniques. Participants explore a variety of ways to lead visitors the general public, teens, and school groups through SFMOMA's exhibitions of architecture and design, media arts, painting and sculpture, and photography.
SFMOMA docent benefits include:
- A continuing education in modern and contemporary art
- Exhibition walk-throughs with curators, artists, and scholars
- Lectures and workshops about current exhibitions
- Free tickets to various SFMOMA events and programs
- Connections with others who share an interest in modern and contemporary art
- The opportunity to support SFMOMA through volunteering
Requirements for participating in the SFMOMA docent training program are:
- An interest in modern and contemporary art and enthusiasm for engaging with the public
- SFMOMA membership
- A one-time class fee (some partial scholarships are available)
- Attendance at all training classes
How to Become a Docent
