Accessibility

We strive to make the museum as accessible as possible to visitors with disabilities:

  • All SFMOMA entrances and interior public spaces are barrier-free.
  • Complimentary wheelchair and stroller rentals are available at coat check, located in the Haas Atrium.
  • Handicapped parking is available at the SFMOMA Garage, located at 147 Minna Street (between Third and New Montgomery, behind the museum).
  • Accessible restrooms and drinking fountains can be found in multiple locations.
  • Large-print maps as well as printed scripts of audio tours are available at the information desk, located just inside the main entrance of the museum.
  • Headphones compatible with hearing aids are available for all audio tours.
  • A TTY public phone is available in the Haas Atrium, behind the central staircase.

During your visit to SFMOMA, our staff are happy to answer your questions about the museum and the surrounding area. Visit the Information Desk just inside our entrance.

Free Coat Check + Lost and Found

Complimentary coat and bag check is available in the Haas Atrium. Note that all umbrellas, backpacks, parcels, and large bags must be checked. For lost items, see security or call 415.357.4139.

Free Strollers + Wheelchairs

Available on a first-come, first-served basis at coat check.

Photography

Flashless photography is allowed for personal, noncommercial use, except where noted. Flash photography and videography are not allowed in the galleries. Tripods are not allowed.

Sketching and Taking Notes

Pencils are allowed in the galleries, but pens, paint, chalk, and crayons are not. Free pencils are available at the information desk and from most security guards.

Cell Phones

We request that you refrain from talking on your cell phone in the galleries, but you are welcome to make calls on the first floor.

Animals

Visitors with disabilities may bring their service animals into all areas where the public is permitted. Pets are not allowed in SFMOMA.

Staff Visitors

All business visitors and staff guests should arrive at SFMOMA's business entrance, accessible from Minna Street on the north side of the museum. Please note that SFMOMA staff members are available by prior appointment only.

Bicycle Parking

Monitored bicycle parking is available at the SFMOMA Garage, located at 147 Minna Street (between Third and New Montgomery, behind the museum).
