Gerhard Richter

Investigate Gerhard Richter's views on art and art making, his innovative use of photography, and his interest in abstraction. Curator Robert Storr discusses Richter's work and offers suggestions on how to look at it. This interactive multimedia feature was developed in conjunction with the exhibition Gerhard Richter: Forty Years of Painting, on view at SFMOMA from October 12, 2002, through January 14, 2003.

This feature works best with high-bandwidth Web access. You can also view it at the Museum on our interactive kiosks, located in the galleries and the Koret Visitor Education Center.

If you can't access the QuickTime movies, please check our troubleshooting tips.
