These guided tours for adults are a fun and exciting way to see the museum and to learn about our collections and current exhibitions. We are happy to customize tours to fit your interests. Private tours are $100 for groups of 10 to 25 people. Additional guides for larger groups are available for $75 each. If a translator is needed for a foreign language tour, there will be an additional charge.
Please call 415.357.4197 at least six weeks before your preferred tour date. In planning for your visit, note that groups should arrive 15 minutes prior to their tour time, and that there is no bus parking available near SFMOMA.
Private tours are for adults only; for school visits, visit our School Tours page.
Docent-led tours are available to qualified nonprofit social service organizations and college groups. These tours of the museum's permanent collection and special exhibitions are offered free of charge and can be tailored to your interests. Tours must be scheduled in advance through the Education Department by calling 415.357.4095.
Our visiting lecturer program enables college professors to tour their classes through the museum's galleries. Professors must apply for a visiting lecturer badge two to three weeks prior to the date of their intended visit. Professors who do not have a badge will not be allowed to speak publicly to their group in our galleries. To apply for a visiting lecturer badge, contact the docent tour scheduler at 415.357.4095. If you already have a badge, you may arrange discount tickets for large groups (10 or more) by calling 415.357.4197.
