In Education (Tribute 21) Rauschenberg pays tribute to Jim Henson (1936–1990), a puppeteer, screenwriter, and producer best known as the creator of the Muppets, a group of puppets that first appeared on television in the mid-1950s. They have been recurring characters on the educational show Sesame Street since 1969, in addition to appearing on The Muppet Show (1976–81) and in numerous movies. Henson is quoted in the brochure: “I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope is still to leave the world a little bit better than when I got there.”
