As one of the founders of Microsoft, Bill Gates (b. 1955) has revolutionized the computer industry. Technology (Tribute 21) commemorates his contributions to the field and offers a hint of the philanthropic interests Gates would develop in the years to come. Here a reproduction of Rauschenberg’s print is paired with the following quote by Gates: “Until we’re educating every kid in a fantastic way, until every inner city is cleaned up, there is no shortage of things to do.” Since 1994, Gates and his wife, Melinda, have built and funded The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a private organization that gives more than $1 billion each year to support education and world health initiatives.
