This three-and-a-half foot square canvas features layers of thick white, cream, and pale yellow oil paint. Heavy, discernible brushstrokes smear and scrape the paint in all directions. Darker and more vibrant colors bleed through the frenetic surface, muddying the creamy palette. The sketch-like outline of a thin rectangle can be found along the edge of the canvas on our upper left, and two small smears of reddish paint, the color of blood orange and butternut squash, drip down into the canvas at our upper right. Near the lower right, also at the edge of the canvas, is the number 58, rendered in cream on a small patch of smooth, golden paint. The digits have been turned on their sides, and run up the edge of the painting.
