Artwork Detail

This side view of the first panel of White Painting [three panel] shows a ridge of paint that was left behind when the work was repainted. This slight build-up was created when the latex paint was pushed over the edge of the canvas with a brush, and it suggests that the panel was lying flat when the repainting took place. For further discussion of the work’s history of repainting, see the essay on White Painting [three panel].
