Recognizing Germany's vast contributions to one of today's most exciting artistic media, SFMOMA presents a three-part series highlighting German video works. This first installment features an introductory panel discussion headlined by Jankowski and Müller (a veteran of Berlin-based performance group the Deadly Doris), who will present recent and early work, and moderated by Frieling. The discussion is followed by a 60-minute screening of contemporary video art, including Christian Jankowski's The Holy Artwork (2001, 16 min.), Korpys/Loffler's The Nuclear Football (2004, 30 min.); Rosemarie Trockel's Buffalo Billy + Milly (2000, 6 min.), and Corinna Schnitt's Das schlafende Mädchen (The Sleeping Girl) (2001, 9 min.).

All three programs in the series draw on the exhibition and restoration project 40yearsvideoart.de Part 1-Digital Heritage: Video Art in Germany from 1963 until the Present, organized by Frieling prior to his tenure at SFMOMA.
