Ant Farm Media Van v.08 (Time Capsule)

During the exhibition The Art of Participation: 1950 to Now, museum visitors have been plugging in their own personal electronic devices (such as cell phones, cameras, MP3 players, and PDAs) into the media van’s hookah-like console, which then copied and stored at random a digital audio or image file from those devices. Approximately 4,000 files make up this digital time capsule, which will next be accessed, or “opened,” the year 2030.

For this special ceremony, join Ant Farm artists Chip Lord, Curtis Schreier, and Bruce Tomb for the official sealing of the Ant Farm Media Van v.08 (Time Capsule).
