Steve McQueen's video installation Drumroll looks at Manhattan through the unconventional eye of an oil drum. A formal investigation of motion, the piece also records spatial interruptions in public places. Using Drumroll as a launching point, Zimbardo looks at various approaches to filming in the street - from covert recordings to confrontational encounters with passersby - with illustrations from the history of experimental cinema and contemporary video art.
