The Band Wagon
6:30 p.m.
Astaire partners with Cyd Charisse in arguably the greatest of the MGM musicals of that era. He plays an aging singer and dancer trying to relaunch his career in the face of highbrow pretensions held by his producer, played by Jack Buchanan, who wants to remake Faust as a Broadway musical.

Funny Face
8:30 p.m.
Gershwin meets Givenchy meets existentialism. An irresistibly gamine Audrey Hepburn plays a cerebral bookshop assistant from Greenwich Village who agrees to become a fashion model as a way of getting to Paris to meet her favorite philosopher. Astaire plays the celebrity fashion photographer who “discovers” her. His character was based on Richard Avedon, who worked as a consultant on the set.
