An irresistibly gamine Audrey Hepburn plays a cerebral bookshop assistant from Greenwich Village who agrees to become a fashion model as a way of getting to Paris to meet her favorite philosopher. Astaire plays the celebrity fashion photographer who “discovers” her. His character was based on Richard Avedon, who worked as a consultant on the set.
