Evening Performance: Today Is Not a Dress Rehearsal

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

7:30 p.m.

Participants

Mika Tajima/New Humans
Charles Atlas, filmmaker

For three days, SFMOMA’s Schwab Room will be transformed into an installation/film set by artist Mika Tajima (who often works collaboratively under the name New Humans), creating a live space for the exploration of performance, video, and sculpture. Tajima’s set will consist of her objects (which double as scenery flats) and the accoutrements of film production, including lighting gear, dolly tracks, and sound equipment.

Simultaneously, award-winning filmmaker and videographer Charles Atlas will be shooting the event and creating live-edit works, which will be projected in real time in the museum’s Phyllis Wattis Theater, as well as onto the surfaces of the installation itself.

This evening performance features a performance by noise band New Humans.
