This fictional documentary investigates the agonies and ecstasies that punctuated – and, literally, punctured – Frida Kahlo’s life, in a series of dramatized flashbacks as she lies on her deathbed. Leduc’s approach is painstakingly detailed, choosing an actress with an uncanny resemblance to the artist, and using Kahlo’s own clothes, bed, and even paintings as props.
