May 1 marks the closing of Stephanie Syjuco’s Shadowshop, which has operated out of the fifth-floor galleries and has provided a venue for more than 200 Bay Area artists to sell their wares. Granting museum gallery space, total creative control, and 100 percent of the proceeds to the artists, Syjuco upends and calls into question the traditional modes of art production and distribution.
