Luxurious Dining: The Design of Scott Kester

Thursday, November 16, 2006, 5:30 p.m.

Phyllis Wattis Theater

Working in the tradition of Alexander Girard, who designed a complete environment for the restaurant La Fonda del Sol, Kester creates sophisticated dining and lounge settings informed by 20th-century American Modernism. His projects include Lotus in New York and Rumi in Miami, two of the country's hottest supper clubs, as well as the spectacular Frisson near San Francisco's Jackson Square. Join Kester for a discussion of his influences and inspirations, particularly designs from the 1930s and 1940s and Girard's innovations of the 1950s and 1960s. An SFMOMA Sessions party follows the talk.
