Members get a special sneak peek of a new multi-sensory work by conceptual artist Nicole Miller. Designed specifically for the museum’s Phyllis Wattis Theater, Miller’s work weaves together film and sound components ― overlaid by a radiant laser-light display ― and reckons with notions of identity, voice, pain, and possibility. Filmed interviews and performances feature students in San Francisco schools as well as local figures in the arts and sciences, including choreographer Alonzo King (artistic director and co-founder of Alonzo King LINES Ballet), opera singer J’Nai Bridges (performer in the title role of Carmen in San Francisco Opera’s past season, 2018-2019), and NASA astronaut Dr. Yvonne Cagle.

Generous support for Nicole Miller’s To the Stars is provided by Marjory Graue and Martin Bloes.

Meaningful support is provided by Wayee Chu and Ethan Beard.
