Shop Talk: Part One

Related Exhibition The More Things Change

Thursday, March 24, 2011, 7:00 p.m.

Koret Visitor Education Center

This first of three conversations will focus on issues and themes raised by Stephanie Syjuco's collaborative project Shadowshop, on view now as part of the exhibition The More Things Change. The evening will begin with a series of short presentations contextualizing Shadowshop. We'll then open the floor in a town-hall style forum, hoping to elicit a broad spectrum of positions on the ways artists approach the "production, consumption, and dissemination of their work," and how a general public encounters artist projects that address or reflect larger social questions about economy and autonomy.

Please join us! You can also follow the conversation on our blog, Open Space.

SFMOMA'S blog, Open Space, is a lively forum for critical and personal writings about art, visual culture, and issues specific to the Bay Area. In the same spirit, we collaborate with local artists, writers, and others to organize real-time discussions on occasional Thursdays each season.
