Artist Doug Aitken is rolling into town with a new public art project: a train traveling from New York City to the Bay Area and making ten stops along the way to host site-specific happenings with luminaries from the art, music, culinary, literary, and film worlds — all in the name of raising funds for partner museums, including SFMOMA. Participants include Kenneth Anger, Eleanor Friedberger, Stephen Shore, and Alice Waters. Station to Station: A Nomadic Happening departs from New York on September 6 and arrives in Oakland with a special event on September 28.
