Artists often express themselves through portraiture, making pictures of friends, family, celebrities, or themselves. In this half-day workshop, teachers examine works in the exhibition Chuck Close: Self-Portraits 1967–2005, as well as other portraits in SFMOMA’s collection, to gain a deeper understanding of the tradition of portraiture in modern and contemporary art.
