Many of the themes explored by Sherman, such as feminine stereotypes, the plasticity of identity, and fiction and artifice in portraiture, are crucial concerns in contemporary art practice. In this event, Bay Area artists working in a variety of mediums discuss their relationship and response to Sherman's work and how they investigate similar issues in their own art.
