What is Contemporary Art? History

Free with RSVP.

Examining the past sheds light on events and systems of today. Contemporary artists including An-My Lê, Yinka Shonibare, and Firelei Báez explore different histories to deepen public understanding, reimagine existing narratives, and influence the future. Co-presented by SFMOMA and Art21, this workshop is part of a series exploring different aspects of the question “what is contemporary art.” Each of the three workshop encourages educators to think and work like artists, using thematic, inquiry-driven processes and strategies.

Bay Area educators are encouraged to apply for our small-group workshops that follow the webinar. Apply here; space is limited.
