Contemporary Art That Walks the Line

February 12-April 16, 2000

What happens when things are not what they appear to be? This presentation from SFMOMA's permanent collection challenges perceived relationships between fact and fiction; representation and reality; and staging and faithful recording. Highlighting work by such artists as Robert Gober, Sherrie Levine, Richard Prince, and Stephanie Syjuco, Fact/Fiction provides an exciting new perspective on the multiple meanings of art when simulation, appropriation, and even playful deception are integral to an artist's process.
