Glen McKay

Altered States

February 04-June 01, 1999

Glenn McKay's projected light installations are a presentation of five distinct artworks from four eras of production. The exhibition charts a course through the artist's subjective application of communication technology — the tools of analytical and statistical display — to draw from such machines, their artifacts, and related photographic media a means to create an ecstatic form of visual art. Each projection emphasizes light and time as content for art, explores the changing nature of temporal perception over the past several decades, and expresses inquiry into the philosophical notions of transparency and illusion.
