The Photographic Era

Highlights from the Permanent Collection

February 13-June 23, 1998

Over one hundred exceptional photographs demonstrating the historical breadth and diversity of SFMOMA's permanent collection will be on view in an exhibition organized by SFMOMA Associate Curator of Photography Douglas R. Nickel. The works in The Photographic Era traveled to the Ho-Am Art Museum in Seoul, Korea, where they provided audiences with an overview of the history of photography as an art form. Now returning to SFMOMA, the exhibition will reacquaint visitors with some of the finest works from the Museum's spectacular collection of approximately ten thousand photographs.
