Curatorial Document

While living and working in a studio at 128 Front Street in New York, Rauschenberg photographed Jasper Johns (b. 1930), who also occupied a studio in the building. Taken around the same time as Jasper—Studio N.Y.C., these four images are decidedly candid. Unposed, Johns puts out his cigarette in one frame, while in another he smiles at Rauschenberg.
