Reimagining the Museum

SFMOMA has always been a forward-looking institution, dedicated not only to preserving the past, but also to embracing the future. Now we're looking ahead to the next phase in the museum's evolution: an expansion that will add significantly to our galleries and public spaces and provide a new home for the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection of contemporary art.

Construction of our expansion will begin this summer. From June 3, 2013 through early 2016, SFMOMA will be on the go, presenting new art experiences around the Bay Area as our building is transformed.

This expansion is about much more than the extension of the museum's physical footprint; it's about enhancing all the experiences we offer our visitors from the Bay Area community and beyond.
