American

1975, New Jersey, United States

Biography

A leading innovator in digital design and fabrication, Andrew Kudless investigates relationships among architecture, engineering, biology, and computation. Whether in speculative or built projects, his work, as he has described it, seeks to find organic integration in a material system's form, growth, and behavior in order to understand how geometry, fabrication, and performance can work together. Kudless is head of the interdisciplinary design and architecture studio MATSYS, based in Oakland, California, and is assistant professor of architecture at California College of the Arts in San Francisco.

Andrew Kudless discusses P_Wall (2009), a forty-five-foot-long wall installation composed of undulating, bulbous forms.
