Peter Wegner
American
1963, Sioux Falls, South Dakota
"I grew up in South Dakota," Peter Wegner has said. "You couldn't be an artist in South Dakota. And yet that's who I am. You just catch up with yourself, and that's who you turn out to be." Recognized first as a painter, Wegner now creates large-scale installations at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and architecture. Color and language figure prominently in his work. A graduate of Yale University, he lives in Berkeley, California.
