Biography

Sarah Cain moves beyond the traditional notion of painting within the frame by exploring abstraction and spatial interventions in a wide range of media and found materials. Cain was born in Albany, New York, in 1979 and works in Los Angeles, California. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at The Aspen Art Museum (2017); Institute of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (2017); Contemporary Art Museum Raleigh, North Carolina (2015), and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, California (2015). Cain has forthcoming solo exhibitions at National Gallery of Art, Washington DC (2020), Colby College Museum of Art, Waterville, ME (2020), The Momentary, Bentonville, AR (2021), and The Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY (2021).
